The First Results Show: As Expected?
#280 - 1--ed--The First Results Show: As Expected?--2008-02-21 23:34:37
#I don’t like Wednesdays and tonight was no exception. At least at this early stage there isn't that emotional investment yet in anyone to be heartbroken no matter who goes. Heartbroken; no. Disappointed, only with one result of the four. Surprised? A little. Predictable? Of course!
- The group number was a typical group number. The first person to leave is Garrett. I feel bad; I think Chikezie was way worse. From reading other articles, I guess Garrett was one of those people who didn’t have face time and it probably hurt him. That said, I’m not sure I buy that argument; I heard Jason Castro didn’t have much face time either, and I doubt he’s going anywhere.
Amy is the first girl leaving and this is no surprise to anyone who has ears. And we have to hear her sing again. Sorry, Ed, but this was so much the right decision.
We get treated to Paula’s video, where Randy plays guitar. It’s a’ight. Wonder how Simon really feels about this performance? And does Paula remind anyone else of Janet Jackson here?
The next girl going home is either Amanda or Joanne. Personally, I hope it’s Joanne. And it is.
The next guy to go is between Chikeize and Colton. I hope it’s Chikeize. And it isn’t. Oh well.
Roundup:
I thought that how they dismissed Garrett bordered on cruel. Of course when they called Kristy up, anyone who’s watched Idol before knew she was safe. They really need to get some new strategies for these results show. I can hardly wait for the night where they make a contestant choose between the two groups, picking the one he/she thinks is the ‘top’. That has to be the worst. Maybe they won’t do that this year. Yeah, okay, I'm delirious. I’m only disappointed in one of the eliminations tonight and that was Colton leaving over Chikeize. Chikeize is probably my least favorite contestant in the top 24 and now he is here for another week. However, I take solace in the fact that the order of the eliminations doesn’t really matter at this point. As long as the top 10 are the ones that people will pay to hear on tour, unlike last year, it all works. The next two weeks are just preliminary, and unless someone surprises us big time, we can pretty much predict even at this point who will be in the top 10. So….. until next Tuesday, we have plenty of time to assess, analyze, and come up with the various scenarios that make us all such fans of the show.
