American Idol: New Odds In and Chris Sligh could have made you some cash.

Idol Articles IdolHeadEd writes

As the number of contestants dwindles, so do the odds movements. But a bet on Chris could have paid off big.

Not betting on him to win, but betting on him as the next eviction. A $1 bet could have gotten you $25. The odds makers still like Haley 8/5 and Phil 1/1 to go next. I think Sanny would be a good bet at 6/1. But let’s get off who’s going and get with who’s staying.

Melinda still is the odds on favorite at 8/11 bet $11 to win $8. Not me.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th are so close it almost doesn’t matter.

Lakisha 5/1

Blake (moves up) 5/1

Jordin (moves down. Go figure) 6/1

Sanny at 25/1 is a distant 5th. Fifth? Really! He is not in the class of any of the other four except maybe Haley.

Chris (I only need Chris now. I no longer need the last initial. How sad is that?) is a distant 6th at 33/1 as is Gina.

Haley is out of it at 80/1 as is Phil at 100/1.

Two seasons ago a 16 year old Melissa O’Neil, at this point in the Canadian Idol competition, was at 84/1 to win. I so wish I had bet on her because she pulled off the win of the century. For the Idolhead she looked like the winner after the first night of competition. Her problem as far as the odds makers were concerned is that she spent the first two weeks in the bottom two. It was insane for her to even be there, but she never saw the bottom 3 again and went on to become the Canadian Idol 3 winner. And Mel was by a wide, wide margin the best of the top 10. My point; well it’s more of a counter point (and I always like to get in a plug for Melissa O’Neil) is don’t go bettin’ on Haley……or Phil.

I do find it odd that Blake moved up to essentially 2nd with Lakisha and Jordin moved down one. And Sanny went from 66/1 to 25/1. Jordin outperformed Blake and Sanny did nothing to make me think he had any better chances of winning. Gina did move from 66/1 to 33/1. She did deserve that move. After looking back on the show I think Gina may have been the best of the night.

I don’t bet on sports or Idol. I have better sense than that. I have to go now. I need to get down to the convenience store to buy my $20 worth of Mega Millions tickets.

Is it Tuesday yet?
