IdolHeadEd writes Of all the groups so far this one has the most Idols that were hot in the beginning and just fell off the table.
No one would ever have said Ryan Starr was going to win, but that can’t be said about Anwar, Ace, Kristy Lee and Lil Rounds. In the early rounds all looked to be the possible winner. Maybe not so much Kristy after the first round, but certainly after her initial audition. But of all of these Idols only Kristy Lee got signed by 19E. I still maintain her CD “Why Wait” was one of the best Idol CDs ever. Ace went on to co-write Daughtry’s “It’s Not Over” and scored a Grammy nomination. We all know what happened to Jennifer Hudson. SO let’s look at my list. Season 1: 9: Ryan Starr Ryan was damn lucky to make the top 10 with the likes of Kelly Glover on the sidelines. Speaking of Kelly she made a brief appearance on America’s Got Talent last season. Ryan was really never good. She wore the wackiest outfits and not wacky in a Siobhan kind of way. She always had to show those hot flat abs. She looked way better than she sang thus scoring a role in CSI: Las Vegas as the hot dead girl. Season 6: 8: Sanjaya Malakar What can be said about our first Indian contestant that hasn’t already been said. I actually liked his sister much more and got my picture taken with her. One thing Sanny has done is he will always be compared when some no talent gets on the show. He had one decent performance and on Latin night with “Besa Me Mucho”. He looked better than he actually was because no one knocked it out that night although I still really like Melinda’s “Sway”. There was massive fear he would make the final but Simon boldly staed he wouldn’t and he’d make sure of it. Season 9: 7: Tim Urban Like Sanny for his hair Tim was known more for his David Cassidy looks and smile than his singing. His most infamous of all was his slide during his “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. Admittedly he got marginally better as time went on but he likes Sanny outlasted better talent. Season 2: 6 Kim Caldwell Initially known for her Hollywood spat with Julia DeMato, she actually was one of the better season 2 contestants. She along with Clay, the best with their stage presence Kim has done well since Idol doing what you need to do with this Idol platform. She went and made something happen. Getting the in front of the camera gig on Ido Wrap on the TV Guide channel. She also went out and got a record deal. Here’s here latest and I like it. "Mess Of You" Kim would be higher on this list but vocally she is not as good as the following. Season 7: 5 Kristy Lee Cook Kristy Lee may have been the most hated female of all seasons. She just rubbed folks the wrong way. And in the Idol competition it doesn’t pay to be a really pretty girl. Unfortunately for Kristy she never really sang up to her potential on the show but once. But as I’ve stated many times her CD “Why Wait” was one of the best. She is a great example of how the show can actually hurt you as an artist. It’s like if you’re going to kill the king, you better kill him. She didn’t. But I still think had she not gotten off to a bad start and not gotten shattered there could very well have been two Davids and two Cooks in the final 3. Here is her first single which is awesome and I never heard once on the radio. "15 Minutes of Shame" And here is my favorite song off the CD."I Think I Think Too Much" Kristy currently has a new 30 minute show on The Outdoor Channel called Outdoors 10 best. It is a hunting show. Sarah Palin would be proud. Season 8: 4: Lil Rounds It looked for all the world Lil would be at least in the final after all the pimping and after her initial round of 24. But after her initial top 12 performance, she just never regained the magic. Still she had one of the better voices of her season. Season 4: 3: Anwar Robinson Anwar looked like the, not only the guy to beat, but the person to beat. His three performances in the semis were all strong. Here’s one "Moon River" There have been many early frontrunners fade quickly but no more quickly that Anwar. From his first perfroamcne in the top 12 he headed downhill fast. But there is no denying his talent. Here’s some new stuff. "Exceptional" Season 5: 2: Ace Young Ace, like Anwar, looked like the season’s winner after his first performance of "Father Figure" . Unlike Anwar his decent started with his second performance. But Ace did have that special something that kept him in the show. He did have quite a few better performances in the finals than Anwar. Ace did go on to help Daughtry write “It’s Not Over” and garner himself a Grammy nomination. Season 3: 1: Jennifer Hudson Jennifer Hudson Has experienced more joy and more sorrow than any contestant post Idol. And it is her post Idol success that puts her at number 1. Even on Idol she was better than the winner that season. Just my opinion. In a season overloaded with girls she just happened to be in the most overloaded sub category of female singers, the R&B group. Without the push of Idol Jennifer still outsold Taylor Hicks with 800,000 sold. Her Academy win kind of helped her there. Jenn has gone on to star in several films since. Here is the song that is now called hers "And I Am Telling You" Here ‘s a song off her CD "If This Isn't Love" Not a lot of really stellar talent this round but good enough. All but a few and I hope I don’t have to say who, should make a great living singing. Only one makes my record label. Don’t forget to give you vote to your favorite in my poll. And here is how our top 12 stacks up. Mine Yours 12. Vanessa Olivarez 12. David Henandez 11. Alexis Grace 11. Alexis Grace 10. Did Benami 10. Did Benami 9. Mandisa 9. Mandisa 8. Michael Johns 8. Michael Johns 7. Jennifer Hudson
