 Who saw that coming? Looking around the web at all the pools.....nobody.
As of right now my source for odds is off line. But I will do something a little different now and do the odds when they come back up. But one thing I can say is Ashley Rodruguez just paid off the house. There was a lot of money on Ashley to win. In fact in some betting houses she was either the first or second favorite to win. So all the money on Ashley is in the house cash register. This was the largest hit for the house in Idol history with the exception of maybe huge betting on Clay/Ruben.
I didn't really notice how high on the chart she was because Didi and Katie were so highly charted. Ashley was right behind Didi ahead of Crystal. Boom! Ashley's perfomance was below par for any season and way below what I expected. I thought the Alicia Keyes fix would kill her I just didn' think it would be this quick.
As for everyone else that hit the curb, there were no real OMGs! I did see some predictions of her exit but she was one of the chosen ones. I can find no one that got all three right. More of a mystery is how Alex, Lacey, and Tim. I think it will take unbeleiveable perforamanes form those three to stick around another week. Personally I would like to see Lacey all the way to the top 12 if she can get it together like she did in Hollywood.
A question: How important is your early exposure and goos song in Hollywood? Ask Andrew and Didi. For the put your money wherer your mouth is crowd those two are riding that Hollywood wave all the way to the top 12. I will say not unjustly but I just wonder how well received their latest performances would have been received if we hadn't gotten those glimpes of brilliance in Hollywood. I think if I had not seen Andrew's "Straight Up" or Didi's "Terrified" I don't think I would have been as enthusiastic about them. After watching the show back Didi sounded greally good for the most part but that last note was in another universe. Andrew was just OK. I didn't like the song on him. They are both riding the wave all the way to the top 12.
So I decided to go to iTunes and look at the ratings and reviews. I wish we could see the downloads. Anyway, when I went here's what I saw.

Only one 5 star and it's the one who doesn't know what a dark horse is. I will say I did buy Siobhan's single although I feel ripped off by paying $1.29 for half a song buut it was ona gift card so...... If we went by this chart Halely, Todrick, Jermaine, and Lacey would have gotten the boot but obviously none did not to say maybe they all could have.
So what can we glean by this chart? Not much more than to determine how popular they are or how curious folks are about them. The proof in the pudding would be downloads. When folks spend money they are the ones who will vote. In my case I bought Siobhan's because I thought it was an awesome vocal. After I bought it my supicions were dead on. I would like to take this from person to person and see how they would grade it. I did not buy anyone else's not even my favorites Didi or Andrew. Personally I don't like buying these until we get a studio version. Siobhan's sounds like one. By the way Chris Issak's "Wicked Game" is #1 in popularity on his iTunes library.
On a totally different note, It seems every year we get a contestant who gets into the top 12 that doesn't deserve it (Sanjaya) and we also seem to get one that really does but is booted too early (Alexis Grace). Who will get those honors this year? Here are my bets. Doesn't deserve it; Alex Lambert. Leaves too early; John Park.
I think all the girls that make it to the top 12 will deserve it. It looks like Katie, Didi, Crystal, Siobhan, Lilly, and Katelyn. Katelyn will certainly be the weakest link but I suspect some dudes will go before her. I think we could have 6 girls on tour but at least 5.
