IdolHeadEd writes Adam has been the favorite to win almost out of the gate. So what has changed? Math and tight panties.
Season after season the beginning rarely looks like the end. All the frontrunners seem to lose their steam and for good reason. Once a bar is set, you must reach it every week and at some point you must surpass it. So the best thing is not to get that frontrunner status tattooed on your head till about 7 weeks in. While Adam was always wide out in the open, Kris flew so far under the radar we actually need sonar to find him. His first performance of the top 36 was nothing to write home about. It was OK but here’s where the under the radar thing works. The boppers didn’t know he was married at this point. That is how he got in the top 13. It wasn’t till the top 13 we found out. Simon mentioned it and although it didn’t matter now the point was relevant. I submit to you had they done his top 36 back story with his cute wife as prominent as she was top in the 13 “get to know” Kris package, I don’t think he makes the top 13 that night. And I just don’t believe from the comments he got on his “Man in the Mirror” that he would have gotten picked for the wild card. So that’s how close we came from having him hanging out with Tatiana and Nick Mitchell crying in the hallway. . But that is not what happed. And thankfully it didn’t. This is one contestant that gained more fans every week after they knew he was hitched. In fact there are some of those foam finger things out there that say “Kris is hot, wife or not”. Yes they’ve forgiven him for being unfaithful to them. But this is not why he will win. He will win for precisely the reason Allison is not here in his place. Really, once you get to the top 5 it’s all about fan base not a whole lot about singing. Proof of this was most evident on Rock night. But before Rock night we had Adam in the bottom 2 night the week before.......or did we? I believe Adam was not really in the bottom 2 but only bottom 3 which coincidently enough is the first time in the history of Idol they had a bottom 3 night when there were only five contestants left. Ryan said this is your bottom 3 but never said this is your bottom 2. I suspect Kris was actually in the bottom 2 and to stir Adam fans into a frenzy (it worked by the way) made it appear he was on the brink of extinction. I heard so many gasps I thought we were having another tornado here in Atlanta. There is no way they wanted a final without Adam. And who could blame them? Even if you hate him you want to see what weirdness he pulls out of his hat. Quite frankly a final without Adam would be pretty boring if you ask me. Even if it were my girl Allison and either Kris or Danny, it just would not have the same impact. And for all you conspiracy theorists about the voting being rigged this should quell some of those suspicions along with Alexis Grace not making the tour and Sarver, Corkrey, MacIntyre did. So here’s how Kris will win. It’s quite simple. Danny’s gone so if his votes go anywhere it will be to Kris. Since the votes separating Adam and Kris last week were only 1,000,000 out of 88,000,000, it won’t take as many of Danny’s fans to make that lead, assuming it was Adam’s lead, evaporate. And if this scenario plays out and Kris does win we will have to go to an old Smith Barney commercial and say “He made fans the old fashioned way…..He earned them”. I hope some of you reading this are old enough to remember that classic commercial. So let’s tune in, watch, and see who becomes….. “The next American Idol”. And no matter whom it is we can be assured he will be a great one. Is it Tuesday yet? Idolhead Ed
