montax35 writes Now that Michael Jackson week has come and gone, how do the contestants fare against the Grand Ole Opry?
To me, Michaal Jackson week was a breeze for most of them. They grew up listening to him and probably moon walked in the mirror a couple of times. This week they go up against a monster. A monster that could eat some of them alive. The GRAND OLE OPRY!!!!! Who is going to have the hardest battle or who is going to come out victorious? I would like to offer advise for our remaining 11 so that they have the best chance of making the tour. Adam Lambert: Your theatrical rock style could suffer tremendously during this round. No one wants to hear you do your thing over a country song. Your best bet would be to take the subtle approach. What a great time to show your vocals? Pick a slower song that you can infuse with the smooth rock tone that you possess.
Alexis Grace: I would love to see you take on a fast country song. I know that this cliche but something like the Dixie Chicks. I know that they do not have a song in the library but find something similar. You could have a great moment if you just stood there and sang a good ole country song with a good feeling. Seriously, you could have a moment.
Allison Iraheta: Everyone is going to expect you to rock out a country song but I say go the other way. Let your edgy voice wrap around a Carrie Underwood song. I am telling you that you could create something special up there. Again, a perfect chance to show your versatility.
Anoop Desai: Whatever you do, don't come out in a cowboy hat. I don't know what you can vocally. I don't know if you will be able to conform to the genre. Pick an obscure song and introduce it to the idol world. I hope that you do well but you are fighting an uphill battle ever since Simon made that comment last week.
Danny Gokey: I could hear you doing a great classic song. Find one in the bunch and just sing it. Sit on a stool with a background singer, a guitar, and a percussionist. It has potential.
Kris Allen: I think that you could do well. Especially if you have your guitar. You could draw in the country vote. Vocally, I hope that you become more consistent. Do something slow to show your vocal ability.
Lil Rounds: I am sure that you put your spin on any song on this list. I would love to see you tame it down a little and give us a subdued performance. Maybe a Martina song. That would be awesome. Just don't go cliche and sing "How Do I Live" or "I Will Always Love You".
Matt Giraud: I am afraid that you may struggle this week. Unless you choose something that could have a contemporary twist. Maybe Garth Brooks. A song that you could play on the piano very well would be great too.
Megan Corkery: I am sure that your voice will fit in very well here. I could hear you doing some Patsy Cline. That would be good for you. Please no cawing this time. That was just down right wrong. Never again. Please.
Michael Sarver: Your voice is perfect for this genre. I know that you don't want to admit and you even deny it. But you have the voice that could cross genres. You just need to learn to use it. I would suggest that you do something mid tempo.
Scott MacIntrye: I don't know if you will fall into this round very easily. I think that this is going to take you out of your comfort zone. Just don't do up tempo. Maybe a mid tempo which requires a little piano playing.
All in all I am expecting some spectacular performances, the top 11 usually pulls the singers from the rest of the pack. I am hoping that Allison Iraheta and Alexis Grace can pull off some great performances. I think that Matt Giraud, Anoop Desai, and Scott MacIntyre are going to struggle the most.
